RESUMO

This study aimed to develop a protein-fiber-rich extruded product based on yellow lentil, quinoa, and pumpkin flours. The final product quality is affected by formulation and extrusion parameters. Therefore, the effect of the pumpkin-flour ratio (A: 25-75%) and feed moisture content (C: 14-22%) besides barrel screw speed (B: 120-180 rpm) on the physical attributes of extrudates was investigated. Box-Behnken experimental design and stepwise-response surface method were used to analyze the effects of various process variables and ingredients on extrudates. The pumpkin-flour ratio had a significant positive correlation with bulk density (BD), water solubility index (WSI), and oil absorption index. Whereas the correlation between pumpkin-flour ratio with hardness, porosity, expansion ratio (ER), and water absorption index (WAI) was negative (P < 0.05). The feed moisture content positively affected the water activity (aw) and WAI and negatively affected the harness of samples (P < 0.05). The screw speed had a positive effect on ER, porosity, and WSI, whereas it negatively influenced the hardness, BD, and aw. By increasing the pumpkin-flour ratio, air cell size and wall thickness of samples had been decreased. The results showed that 44.2% pumpkin flour, 22% feed moisture, and 172.1 rpm screw speed gave an optimized product. There was no significant difference between predicted and experimental values (except for ER). The optimized snack was a good source of fiber (around 15%), protein (17.3%), and antioxidants (TPC = 15.28 mg GAE.g-1 and antiradical scavenging activity (DPPH) = 33.66%). The caloric value of the optimized snack was 362.6 cal.100g-1. The current formulation can be considered as the base of snack food or plant-based meat alternatives.

RESUMO

This field trial was conducted to evaluate two antibiotics at a close-up period in curing the existing IMI and to prevent new clinical and subclinical Intramammary infection (IMI). Two hundred and twelve Holstein cows were assigned to one of three treatment groups: TYLO, MARB and CONT. Cows in TYLO group received 10 mg/kg Tylosin for three days at the close-up period (21 days before calving), cows in MARB group received single SC injection of 8 mg/kg SC marbofloxacin at the close-up period and cows in CONT group remained untreated. Milk samples were collected for somatic cell count, microbial culture and Total oxidant/antioxidant capacity before drying-off, and 3 and 7days post calving. Antimicrobial susceptibility test and RAPT-PCR were performed on S.aureus isolates. No significant differences were detected in total cure rate within the groups, but S. aureus cure rates in TYLO and MARB were significantly higher than in CONT (74 and 73.5 % Vs 58.1 %). No significant differences in total new IMI were observed. Furthermore, the rate of new S. aureus IMI was higher in both treatment groups than in CONT group. Clinical mastitis rate in TYLO (3.8 %) and MARB (5.8 %) was significantly lower than CONT (11.3 %). Paired S. aureus isolates from dry-off and post-calving have been clustered into 9 different RAPD types (A-I). 8 paired strains collected at dry-off were identical to those at post-calving,and 35 strains had more than 60 % dissimilarity. Administration of Tylosin or Marbofloxacin is not useful in all cases;however, they have the potential to reduce the incidence of post-calving clinical mastitis and improve S.aureus cure rate if used selectively.

RESUMO

It is thought that creating sensorimotor feedback in people with ankle joint amputation can affect motor biomechanics during gait, but there is little evidence or previous research. This study e aim ed to investigate the sensorimotor mechanism of smart prostheses in with ankle amputations while walking. Search in Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed and Medline databases between April 2017 and February 2023, in addition to a detailed review in specialized clinical and engineering databases, 29 articles were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Trials that mainly include; Proprioception, walking process in movement disorders, ankle amputation were included. Qualitative assessments of selected trials using PEDro' scale was used. The review of studies showed that the use of pressure sensors, neural stimulation through encoded algorithms can provide continuous tactile and positional information of the artificial leg in the direction of neural stimulation throughout the entire walking cycle. These findings indicate that restoration of intraneuronal sensory feedback leads to functional and cognitive benefits. With these definitions, different companies and research centers are trying to improve the mechanics of walking, however, movement strategies are unknown despite little research in creating sense and movement in the use of smart prostheses.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The study's purpose was to evaluate the performance of a five-type HPV mRNA test to predict cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 or worse (CIN3+) during up to 12 years of follow-up. METHODS: Overall, 19,153 women were recruited by gynecologists and general practitioners in different parts of Norway between 2003 and 2004. The study population comprised 9582 women of these women, aged 25-69 years with normal cytology and a valid five-type HPV mRNA test at baseline. Follow-up for CIN3+ through 2015 was conducted in the Norwegian Cervical Cancer Screening Programme. RESULTS: The cumulative incidence of CIN3+ by baseline status for HPV mRNA-positive and mRNA-negative women were 20.8% and 1.1%, respectively (p < 0.001). Age did not affect the long-term ability of the HPV mRNA test to predict CIN3+ during follow-up. CONCLUSION: The low long-term risk of CIN3+ among HPV mRNA-negative women and the high long-term risk among HPV mRNA-positive women strengthen the evidence that the five-type HPV mRNA test is an appropriate screening test for women of all ages. Our findings suggest that women with a negative result may extend the screening interval up to 10 years.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: A specific, cost-effective triage test for minor cytological abnormalities is essential for cervical cancer screening among younger women to reduce overmanagement and unnecessary healthcare utilization. We compared the triage performance of one 13-type human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA test and one 5-type HPV mRNA test. METHODS: We included 4115 women aged 25-33 years with a screening result of atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (LSIL) recorded in the Norwegian Cancer Registry during 2005-2010. According to Norwegian guidelines, these women went to triage (HPV testing and repeat cytology: 2556 were tested with the Hybrid Capture 2 HPV DNA test, which detects the HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, and 68; and 1559 were tested with the PreTect HPV-Proofer HPV mRNA test, which detects HPV types 16, 18, 31, 33, and 45). Women were followed through December 2013. RESULTS: HPV positivity rates at triage were 52.8% and 23.3% among DNA- and mRNA-tested women (p < 0.001), respectively. Referral rates for colposcopy and biopsy and repeat testing (HPV + cytology) after triage were significantly higher among DNA-tested (24.9% and 27.9%) compared to mRNA-tested women (18.3% and 5.1%), as were cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 or worse (CIN3+) detection rates (13.1% vs. 8.3%; p < 0.001). Ten cancer cases were diagnosed during follow-up; eight were in DNA-tested women. CONCLUSION: We observed significantly higher referral rates and CIN3+ detection rates in young women with ASC-US/LSIL when the HPV DNA test was used at triage. The mRNA test was as functional in cancer prevention, with considerably less healthcare utilization.

RESUMO

Producing quality products in baking industry has been facing several challenges including meeting the needs of the growing population, lack of sufficient water resources for producing enough wheat, lack of quality products made from wheat flour and high amount of waste. Recently, the quality of baking products has been improved by mixing different types of flour, which increases the nutritional value and improves the quality of the final product. This study evaluates the possibility of making a cake by incorporating wheat flour with quinoa and okra flour. Moreover, basil gum is used to improve the gluten network. The cake samples were prepared with quinoa flour at two levels (15 and 30%), okra flour at two levels (0.8 and 0.16%) and basil gum at a level of 0.4%; finally, their physicochemical, rheological, SEM, and sensory properties were evaluated. Based on the results, adding quinoa and okra flour and basil gum increases the density and consistency of the batter. Hardness, springiness, chewiness, cohesiveness, and adhesiveness of the blend Q2B1R was improved. The granule structure of the quinoa flour cakes were affected, and the gluten network was not well formed as shown in the electron microscopy images. However, the gluten network was improved in the samples with 0.4% basil gum and 0.8% okra flour. By adding okra and quinoa, better specific volume, porosity, and moisture content was obtained. Sensory evaluation of the cakes indicated that the blend Q2B1R was scored close to the control sample.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this clinical trial was to examine the effect of omega-3 fatty acids (W-3 FAs), nanocurcumin and their combination on serum levels and gene expression of VCAM in patients with episodic migraine. RESULTS: In this study, 80 patients were randomly divided in to 4 groups to receive for 2 months. Both serum levels and gene expression of VCAM showed remarkable decreases after single W-3 and after combined W-3 and nanocurcumin interventions. However, a borderline significant change and no remarkable change were observed after single nanocurcumin supplementation and in control group, respectively. While a significant difference between study groups in VCAM concentrations existed, there was no meaningful difference in VCAM gene expression among groups. It appears that the W-3 and combined W-3 and nanocurcumin can relieve VCAM serum level and its gene expression in patients with episodic migraine. Moreover, the combination of W-3 with nanocurcumin might cause more significant declines in VCAM level in the serum of migraine patients than when W-3 is administered alone. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This study was registered in Iranian Registry of Clinical Trials (IRCT) with ID number: NCT02532023.

RESUMO

In this study, a modified mesoporous adsorbent (MSU-S) impregnated by aluminum was used to remove the aromatic sulfur compounds from n-decane as the model fuel. Physical and chemical properties of as-synthesized adsorbent were investigated by XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy) and BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) method. Adsorptive desulfurization of model fuel was studied through batch and continues processes under mild temperature and normal atmospheric pressure. The equilibrium adsorption was modeled by Langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich and the kinetics of adsorption was studied through first, second and intraparticle diffusion models. It was figured out that Temkin and the pseudo-second-order model were best fitting the adsorption equilibrium and describing the kinetics, respectively.

RESUMO

Water stress is one of the main abiotic factors that reduces plant growth, mainly due to high evaporative demand and low water availability. In order to evaluate the effects of drought stress on certain morphological and physiological characteristics of two canola cultivars, we conducted a factorial experiment based on a completely randomized design. The findings show that drought stress exacerbations result in the plant's response to stress due to increased canola resistance caused by changes in plant pigments, proline, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde, glucose, galactose, rhamnose and xylose. These in turn ultimately influence the morphological characteristics of canola. Drought stress reduces the concentration of carotenoids, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophylls; however, glucose, galactose, rhamnose, xylose, proline, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde (in leaves and roots) and the chlorophyll a and b ratios were increased. Reduction of plant height, stem height, root length, fresh and dry weight of canola treated with 300 g/l PEG compared to non-treatment were 0.264, 0.236, 0.394, 0.183 and 0.395, respectively. From the two canola cultivars, the morphological characteristics of the NIMA increased compared to the Ks7 cultivar. Interaction effects of cultivar and drought stress showed that NIMA cultivar without treatment had the highest number of morphological characteristics such as carotenoid concentration, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, total chlorophylls a and b, whereas the cultivar with 300 g/l PEG (drought stress) had the highest amount of proline, malondialdehyde, soluble sugars and enzymes in leaves and roots. Increasing activity of oxidative enzymes and soluble sugars in canola under drought stress could be a sign of their relative tolerance to drought stress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Highly dynamic social networks, where connectivity continuously changes in time, are becoming more and more pervasive. Knowledge mobilization, which refers to the use of knowledge toward the achievement of goals, is one of the many examples of dynamic social networks. Despite the wide use and extensive study of dynamic networks, their temporal component is often neglected in social network analysis, and statistical measures are usually performed on static network representations. As a result, measures of importance (like betweenness centrality) typically do not reveal the temporal role of the entities involved. Our goal is to contribute to fill this limitation by proposing a form of temporal betweenness measure (foremost betweenness). METHODS: Our method is analytical as well as experimental: we design an algorithm to compute foremost betweenness, and we apply it to a case study to analyze a knowledge mobilization network. RESULTS: We propose a form of temporal betweenness measure (foremost betweenness) to analyze a knowledge mobilization network and we introduce, for the first time, an algorithm to compute exact foremost betweenness. We then show that this measure, which explicitly takes time into account, allows us to detect centrality roles that were completely hidden in the classical statistical analysis. In particular, we uncover nodes whose static centrality was negligible, but whose temporal role might instead be important to accelerate mobilization flow in the network. We also observe the reverse behavior by detecting nodes with high static centrality, whose role as temporal bridges is instead very low. CONCLUSION: In this paper, we focus on a form of temporal betweenness designed to detect accelerators in dynamic networks. By revealing potentially important temporal roles, this study is a first step toward a better understanding of the impact of time in social networks and opens the road to further investigation.

RESUMO

Accurate identification of human papillomavirus (HPV)-types in cervical cancer tissue may be important for tailoring tests for primary screening and types to be included in a vaccine. The aim of this study was to compare test-performance of a 45-type HPV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-test with a 9-type HPV messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA)-test in cervical cancer tissues. In a case-series design 188 women with diagnosed cervical cancer during the period January 2008 to July 1, 2011 at the Gynaecological Oncology Unit, University of Pretoria, South Africa were recruited to the study. After cases with negative internal controls for DNA/mRNA detection (n = 18) and unconfirmed histology (n = 3) of cervical cancer were excluded, 167 women remained eligible for analysis. We compared 45 DNA-types detected through general primer (GP)5/6 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and reverse line blot (RLB) genotyping with a modified version of the mRNA test PreTect HPV-Proofer detecting 9 genotypes (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 45, 51, 52, 58).Histological types were 92.2% squamous cell carcinoma, 4.8% adenocarcinoma, and 3.0% adenosquamous carcinoma. Overall, HPV was detected in 95.2% (159/167) of specimens. The DNA- and mRNA tests each rendered 153/167 (91.6%) HPV positive results. When restricting the analysis to the 9 high-risk HPV-types included in the mRNA test, 91.6% (153/167) and 88.0% (147/167) were positive by the mRNA- and DNA-tests (P = .28), respectively. After hierarchical categorization of 9 comparable types, we found concordance in 66 of 67 specimens for HPV16, 25 of 27 specimens for HPV18, 19 of 21 specimens for HPV45, and only in 33 of 45 for HPV31, 33, 35, 51, 52, 58. The positivity rate for the HPV types 16, 18, and 45 and the positivity rate for HPV 16, 18, 45, 33 and 35 by both tests was 66% to 68% and 80% to 83%, respectively.Overall and when considering established high-risk types, the mRNA test has at least as high detection rate as the DNA test. The mRNA test can be an appropriate research tool to describe causative HPV-types in cervical cancer tissue for health care planning purposes.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: This research aims to determine the mental health status of population aged 15 and over in the province of Semnan in 2015. METHOD: The statistical population of this cross-sectional field survey consisted of residents of urban and rural areas of Semnan province in Iran. Through systematic random cluster sampling, 1200 individuals were selected from the residents of urban and rural areas of Semnan, Garmsar and Shahroud. The 28-item version of the General Health Questionnaire was applied as the screening tool. The data were analyzed using SPSS, version 18.0 for windows. RESULTS: This study showed that using the traditional scoring method, 14.5% of the subjects (15.8% of females and 13.1% of males) were suspected of having mental disorders. The prevalence of suspected psychiatric disorders in urban areas (15.5%) was higher than the prevalence of these disorders in rural areas (12.1%). The prevalence of suspected anxiety and the somatization of symptoms was higher than the prevalence of social dysfunction and depression, and the prevalence of these components was higher in women than in men. The findings of this study also showed that the prevalence of suspected mental disorders increased significantly with age. The prevalence of suspected cases of these disorders was higher among women, the age group of 65 and older, people living in urban areas, divorced and widowed, illiterate, and unemployed people than the other groups. CONCLUSION: The results of this study showed that about a sixth of the people in the province were suspected to have mental disorders. Therefore, it is mandatory for the provincial public health authorities to take the needed steps to ensure that necessary requirements encompassing prevention and promotion of mental health are implemented.

RESUMO

The inputs of this network were the concentration of pectinase and time of incubation, and the outputs were extracted lycopene and the activity of radical scavenging activity. Two different networks were designed for the process under the sonication and without it. For optimal network, networks' transfer functions and different learning algorithms were evaluated and the validity of each one was determined. Consequently, the feedforward neural network with function of logarithmic transfer, Levenberg Marquardt algorithm and 4 neurons in the hidden layer with the correlation coefficient of 0.96 and 0.99 were respectively observed for the treatments under sonication and without it, furthermore, root mean squared error and standard error values were obtained 0.46 and 0.22 respectively for the treatments under sonication and 0.77 and 0.38 without it as respectively optimal networks. The selected networks could determine the chosen responses, individually and in combined effect of both inputs as well (R(2) > 0.98).

RESUMO

AIMS: There are three definitions belong to metabolic syndrome (MetS). These definitions have some differences that make some problem for MetS diagnosis criteria. So a new diagnosis marker can help to MetS diagnosis. The aim of this study was the assess of serum levels of leptin, total adiponectin, high molecular weight (HMW) adiponectin, and their ratio with MetS. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We searched Science direct, Pubmed, and Google Scholar for related articles in English. Review studies excluded. RESULTS: Of 1827 articles found, 16 articles met our inclusion criteria. leptin is higher in MetS group but adiponectin is lower (<4 µg/ml) and it shows the paradoxical effect of them in MetS. Higher L/A ratio is a better biomarker for MetS diagnosis criteria than leptin and adiponectin separately. HMW adiponectin (<2.5 µg/ml) can be the most reliable biomarker for MetS diagnosis criteria. CONCLUSION: Our systematic review showed that HMW adiponectin and Leptin to adiponectin ratio should be the best biomarkers for MetS.

RESUMO

A parasitological investigation was done on 175 specimens. Infections of A. brama orientalis were analyzed according to the age and sex. The fish also were examined for evaluation changes of haematological parameters in relation to parasitic infection. Four parasites were found, including-Caryophyllaeus laticeps and Ligula intestinalis (Cestoda), Diplostomum spathaceum (Platyhelminthes) and Trichodina sp. (Ciliophora). Among identified parasites maximum prevalence and mean intensity were related to Ligula intestinalis and Caryophyllaeus laticeps respectively. The values of prevalence and mean intensity showed significant differences among ages. Our results revealed prevalence, mean intensity and abundance had not significant difference between males and females. Parasite infection provoked reduction (P < 0.05) in haematocrit, mean cell volume and lymphocyte. On the other hand, significant increase (P < 0.05) in white blood cell (WBC), mean cell haemoglobin concentration and neutrophil in blood of infected fish was observed. Significant differences were detected for the WBC, lymphocyte and neutrophil (infected versus uninfected by Trichodina sp., Diplostomum spathaceum and Caryophyllaeus laticeps). In addition to WBC and lymphocytes, significant change was observed for the haemoglobin (Hb) (infected versus uninfected by Ligula intestinalis).

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the patterns, complications and casualties of road traffic accidents in North West of Iran during 2013 New Year holidays. METHODS: One hundred and eighty one patients with trauma-related vehicle crashes were investigated in a cross sectional-descriptive study. We only included those road traffic accidents which were recorded during the 2013 Iranian New Year holidays. Severity of injury based on Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score, patient transmission type, damaged organ and the final diagnosis was determined. The mortality rate as well as complications were also recorded and reported. The pattern was analyzed and presented using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: Overall we included 181 patients who were victims of road traffic accidents during the study period. Most cases of multiple traumas were from two car accident (49.2%). Of 181 cases, 71 (39.2%), 66 (36.5%), 16 (8.8%) and 11 (6.1%) subjects had limb, head and neck, abdominal, and spinal cord injuries respectively, while 16 cases (8.8%) did not have any organ damage. In final diagnosis, a limb fracture was noticed in 32 cases (17.7%) and skull fractures in 5 subjects (2.8%) as the first and second causes. CONCLUSION: As head and neck were the most damaged organs after the limbs in patients with multiple traumas, it seems that there is a necessity for these patients in transmission and examination of head traumas. So there is a need for a proper referral system.

RESUMO

Apple is one of the fruits that has beneficial effects on human healthy diet and life. The aim of this study is to determine some physical, mineral and organic acids composition of apple cultivars grown in different locations throughout Lorestan province. Apple cultivars had been harvested from different locations throughout Lorestan province of Iran. Analyses for 3 elements (Iron, Zinc, and calcium) were conducted by the flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Phosphorus was measured by the UV-Vis spectrophotometer and Sodium and Potassium were measured by the flame photometer. Organic acids were determined by Titration method using NaOH and phenolphethalein indicator. Weight was measured by scale based on 0.1 g and length and diameters were measured by caliper. The mean weight of Red Delicious and Golden Delicious apples was 173.7 g and 146.7 g, respectively. The amount of iron, zinc, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium for the red variety was 0.24, 0.14, 28, 8.9, 4.7 and 63.8 respectively; values for the Golden variety were 0.23, 0.14, 27.9, 8.8, 4.5, and 66.3 mg/100g fresh weight, respectively. The amount of ascorbic acid, malic acid, and citric acid for Golden delicious was 9.09, 0.27 and 0.28, respectively; for Red delicious apples, the amount was 9.47, 0.26 and 0.28 mg/100 g, respectively. Acidities for Golden delicious and Red delicious were 3.7 and 4, respectively. One hundred gram of apple fruit grown in Lorestan would provide 3% of iron, 1.5% of zinc, 2.8% of calcium and 1.4% of potassium requirements. The amount of organic acid in apples of Lorestan province was lower than some other countries.
